Antonio Márquez (Seville, 1963). Clasical and flameco dancer
Antonio Marquez was born in Seville in 1963, but grew up in Ibiza, an island on which she began studying dance at age twelve. In 1981 he moved to Madrid, where he still resides and where he continued his studies to enter that same year, the National Ballet School in Spain. Almost immediately it became part of this institution, and became its first dancer, starring in such plays as “The tarantos” or “Don Juan Tenorio.”
Between 1989 and 1990 participated in the Japanese festival of Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Kyoto and Tokyo. In 1991 he became principal dancer of the Spanish Ballet of Madrid, starring in “The Road of No Return“, “We are alone,” Reunions and other works by the master José Granero.
In 1992, as well as principal dancer, joined the company of Merche Esmeralda, Ballet Murcia. In 1993 he starred in the number of “Farruca” taken from “The Three-Cornered Hat, “which closed the show “The divine”, produced by RAI and TVE and was broadcast around the world.
In 1995 he created his own company, which officially released “Perpetual Motion” at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. In 1997 was awarded the Nureyev Prize and participated in the inauguration of the Teatro Real with “The Three-Cornered Hat.” In 1998 he spoke at a gala tribute to Lady Di, held at the Explosive Dance Festival in London. In 1999 he was hired by the Monte Carlo Opera to choreograph Carmen.
Antonio Marquez is the corporative image of Bronces Mestre, S.A. since 2007.
