Interview with Elie Choucair, winner of “The Interior design” awards 2011 as best Interior designer of the year

Mestre ME FZE has had the pleasure to interview Mr. Elie Choucair Interior Designer based in Dubai and winner of “The Interior design” awards 2011 as best Interior designer of the year.

Why Interior Design?

Since I was young, I’ve always been interested in colors, home accessories and furniture. I always knew that one day when I grow up, I’ll be studying interior design that will help improving our life style using my creativity and passion for design.

Why Dubai?

I started my career as an Interior architect in Lebanon where I was born. Seeking for new challenges and experiences, I relocated to Montreal where I worked on numerous high end projects for different well known Interior design firms.
I decided to move back to Middle-East after 9 years of North American experience, intrigued by the scale and the quality of projects in the GCC region. I headed to Dubai, where I joined Godwin Austen Johnson architects.

Who Is your Inspiration?

Many interiors designers, architects and artists have inspired me through the years. I have started my career with French designer influence, by instance Philippe Starck, Patrick Jouin and through my career I was getting my inspiration from other various famous designers such as Jaime Hayon, David Collins, Alberto Pinto, etc…

How Mestre brand helps you make your designs a reality?

Considered as a high end product, Bronces Mestre has always been a piece of jewelry that brings an elegant luxurious touch and adds value to my design. It has always been a reference for its outstanding quality, elegant and classical artisanal details.

What collection did you like more from our range of products?

I’ve been specifying Bronces Mestre bathroom fittings and ironmongery products in most of the classical style projects I have worked on since I moved back to Middle East. From a wide range of
classical and contemporary fittings collection my favorite remains The Hexagonal that offers simple and elegant contemporary lines.
